Coral Sul FLNG is the first floating natural gas liquefaction unit built for the African continent. It has a production capacity of 3.4 million tonnes per annum (MTPA) of LNG23 and operates at a water depth of more than 2,000 meters, making it the world’s first ultra-deepwater FLNG facility.
The unit is designed for energy optimization and CO2 emission reduction, incorporating advanced technologies like aero-derivative gas turbines and high-efficiency gas treatment. Production began in mid-2022, and it is expected to have a design life of 25 years.
The LNG produced is intended for global markets, contributing to the security of gas supplies worldwide, and this project plays a crucial role in Mozambique’s development and energy sector.
